Learning Outcomes

After successfully completing this course, students will be able to:

• Analyse prophecy as a theological and cultural phenomenon in the Ancient Near East and the Bible.
• Distinguish biblical prophecy from idol/divinatory practices and false prophecy.
• Trace the development and role of prophets in the Old and New Testaments.
• Evaluate theological perspectives on the gift and office of prophecy in the early Church and today.
• Critically assess historical and contemporary uses of prophecy within the Church.
• Practice discernment of prophetic messages considering scriptural and ethical standards.
